VENTURIAN ANNOUNCES CONTRACT AWARDED TO NAPCO SUBSIDIARY

 MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Venturian Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: VENT) announced today that its Napco International Inc. subsidiary has received a $7.1 million contract for kits for the upgrade and refurbishment of armored personnel carriers for a foreign customer. In announcing the contract, Gary B. Rappaport, president of Venturian and Napco, noted that the order is expected to be shipped entirely in 1994. "In addition to this contract," he added, "July order bookings were strong, and Napco's backlog currently stands at approximately $23 million, compared to $14 million at the end of the second quarter of 1993."
 Venturian Corp. supplies a wide variety of defense-related products to governments around the world through its Napco International subsidiary. Its wholly owned subsidiary, PC Express, Inc., produces and services personal computers for the upper Midwest market. The company's Venturian Software subsidiary sells MAGIC(TM) software and produces custom software applications.
