VENTURA COUNTY FAIR CEO PLANS TO LEAVE HIS POST.

Michael Paluszak, who served 10 years as chief executive officer of Seaside Park and the Ventura County Fair, said Tuesday that he will resign effective Jan. 1 to pursue business opportunities.

During a closed-door session at the fair board's monthly meeting, Paluszak announced he would be quitting to form a production and management company for fairs and similar events.

. ``I feel great about what we've accomplished here. But the timing is good for me to pursue these interests.

``It's not anything I had discussed with anyone on board and anyone on staff. I suppose you could say it was a surprise. But I think they always figured the day would come when I'd leave this position and pursue other things.''

The 31st Agricultural District is under jurisdiction of the state Department of Food and Agriculture, which owns and operates the park, formerly known as the Ventura County Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. .

Paluszak, who makes about $86,000 a year, also served as general manager of the park and the annual fair.

Before coming to Ventura, he spent four years as general manager of Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee jubilee (j`bĭlē), in the Bible, a year when alienated property and land were restored, slaves were manumitted, debts were forgiven, and a general sabbatical year was observed in  in Angels Camp, Calif., and seven years as manager of a fair in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

Crystal Events Inc., his new Ventura-based company, will produce, manage and consult for fairs and festivals as well as corporate and municipal events.

``I think there is a real need for resource and service providers in support of (these) events,'' Paluszak said.
