VEHICLE PARTS SEIZED; AUTHORITIES SUSPECT CARS WERE STOLEN.

Byline: Bhavna Mistry Daily News Staff Writer

Green fluid leaking under a door at the Lancaster Business Park led them to about $50,000 to $60,000 worth of parts from cars that authorities suspect were stolen.

Neighbors, fearing the green fluid was hazardous, called firefighters, who broke into the rental unit to find the source of the leak. The liquid proved to be just soap leaking from a vat, but officials at the scene spotted what they suspect was a chop shop dismantling stolen vehicles for parts.

``We figure there are car parts for at least nine vehicles,'' said sheriff's Deputy Jim Wright.

``The entire car was there,'' said Wright. ``It was just all cut up.''

Officials said that the tenant had been renting the space for about three weeks.

After obtaining a search warrant Tuesday morning, officials began carrying out parts including leather seats, windshields, tires, seats, doors, dashboards and wheels.
