VCON's Cruiser 75Plus Brings Internet, Audio and Videoconferencing to Home Offices.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1997--VCON is bringing global voice, video and data collaboration to the home office with the Cruiser 75Plus desktop videoconferencing system.

The new low-cost system provides a high-speed Internet connection, audio and videoconferencing capabilities at an affordable price for this growing market. The Cruiser 75Plus provides H.320-compatible "plug and play" videoconferencing over regular ISDN ISDN
 in full Integrated Services Digital Network

Digital telecommunications network that operates over standard copper telephone wires or other media.
 lines at a constant rate of 15 fps in full CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF). . The Cruiser 75 will retail for $999 U.S., including an NT1 (for U.S. customers), for a limited time.

The Cruiser 75Plus is a single board codec (1) (enCOder/DECoder) A hardware circuit that performs analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) conversion. When analog signals are entered into a computer, cellphone or other device via a microphone or video source such as VHS tape or analog TV,  with an on-board BRI See ISDN.

BRI - Basic Rate Interface
 interface for ISDN videoconferencing at 128 Kbps, as well as on-board Acoustic Echo Cancellation for improved hands-free audio quality. Coupled with VCON's NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification) A network driver interface from Microsoft. See network driver interface.

NDIS - Network Device Interface Specification
 drivers, the new board also allows fast and easy access to the Internet at 128 Kbps.
