VARSITY LINCOLN-MERCURY BREAKS GROUND IN NOVI, MICH.
NOVI, Mich., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Construction is under way on the first new Lincoln-Mercury dealership to be built in the Detroit market in 20 years. Lee Miskowski, Ford (NYSE: F) vice president and Lincoln-Mercury Division general manager, joined Sid Beauchamp, regional manager for Lincoln-Mercury Division's Great Lakes Region, and Lou and Michael Stanford, dealer principals of Varsity Lincoln-Mercury, for the ground- breaking ceremony today. When the 35,500-square-foot facility opens in April 1994, it will become the 823rd Lincoln-Mercury dealership operating in the United States. Lincoln-Mercury dealers across the country are helping the division achieve new records of success. In the just-completed 1993 model year, Lincoln-Mercury Division market share was 6.9 percent -- a tenth of a point better than 1992's market share. With exciting new products such as the Lincoln Mark VIII luxury car and the new Mercury Villager minivan, the 1994 model year is to be another successful one, according to Lincoln-Mercury. Varsity Lincoln-Mercury will be located on a six-acre site on Grand River and Wixom Road in Novi. -0- 11/11/93 /CONTACT: Carolyn Burke, 313-446-4368, or Carolyn Brown, 313-446-4399, both of Lincoln-Mercury/ (F)
