 VANRAMSHORST ELECTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT - OPERATIONS
 LAKEWOOD, Colo., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Plains Petroleum Co.


(NYSE: PLP) announced today the election of Lee B. VanRamshorst as Senior Vice President - Operations of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Plains Petroleum Operating Co., effective Dec. 1, 1991.
 VanRamshorst joined the company in November 1985 as Manager of Engineering and was most recently its Vice President Exploitation - Engineering. Under the direction of VanRamshorst an extensive infill drilling program has been conducted on the company's acreage in the Kansas Hugoton field. In addition, he has supervised the company's expansion through acquisitions and development drilling operations, most notably through the establishment of a new base of operations in the Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.

 VanRamshorst will be responsible for directing engineering and acquisition activities as well as the development of new production and operations on properties currently owned by the company.
 Plains, a Colorado based company, produces, develops and explores for oil and gas in the Midcontinent, Permian Basin, Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain Regions of the United States.
