VAN KAMPEN MERRITT ADVANTAGE MUNICIPAL INCOME TRUST II JOINS THE AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE

 NEW YORK, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today began trading the initial public offering of common shares of Van Kampen Merritt Advantage Municipal Income Trust II.
 The trust, trading under ticker symbol VKI, opened at 14-3/4 on 1,000 shares.
 Cranmer and Cranmer, Inc./Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan, Inc., has been selected as the trust's specialist firm.
 Van Kampen Merritt Advantage Municipal Income Trust II is a recently organized, diversified, closed-end investment company. Van Kampen Merritt says the trust will seek to provide a high level of current income exempt from federal income taxes consistent with preservation of capital, and will invest substantially all of its assets in municipal securities.
 The trust's investment adviser is Van Kampen Merritt Investment Advisory Corp., based in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
