``The Hansen Dam campus will provide a safe, nurturing and educational environment where children can engage in learning activities, explore their surroundings, discover their own interests and strengths and learn to work together,'' said Rep. Howard L. Berman, D-Mission Hills, in a press release.

After years of wrangling about the next site, the Children's Museum is being relocated to Lake View Terrace and Little Tokyo from downtown. The new museum and environmental awareness center for children between 2 to 10 will be established on 60,000 acres on the Hansen Dam campus at Foothill Boulevard The following streets are named Foothill Boulevard:

City officials say the museum will be a key component in renovating the Hansen Dam Recreation Area.

Last spring, Berman lobbied trustees to move the museum to Hansen Dam, where he'd helped secure funding for two large swimming and boating lakes.

Museum officials said they are thrilled about next year's appropriation.

``We are extremely excited and grateful to Congressman Berman,'' said Sally Thompson, president and chief executive officer of the museum. ``We applaud his continued leadership for the Children's Museum of Los Angeles.''
