McPhee's blockbuster version of the standard "Come Rain or Come Shine" solidified her standing among voters, and it was fellow contestant Kevin Covais Kevin Patrick Covais (IPA: /koˈveɪz/[1]) (born May 30 1989) was a fifth-season American Idol participant from Levittown, New York. , a 16-year-old from Levittown, N.Y., who was booted from the popular singing contest Wednesday.

Cowell said McPhee, 21, appeared "seasoned," adding "I loved it."

Along with high notes, "Idol's" fifth season hit another peak this week when the Fox show scored its biggest audience yet Tuesday for a performance episode.

A gigantic 33.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the remaining 11 finalists sing the music of the '50s for a shot at a record contract during Tuesday's two-hour broadcast, Nielsen Media Research reported. Viewers' votes were announced Wednesday.
