VALLEY PUTS GLENDALE QB FROST ON ICE : VALLEY 38, GLENDALE 13.

Valley College knew all about Glendale's offense and its quarterback who led the state in passing yards.

And after beating Glendale 38-13 Saturday night, it said, in effect, ``So what?''

The Valley defense was the real star in this Western State Conference Northern Division matchup. It sacked sack 1

 Glendale quarterback six times, intercepted him three times (he entered the game with two all season) and recovered three fumbles.

Frost completed 21 of 40 for 261 yards - well below his 397-yard average. He was most effective on the game's final drive, when he passed for 81 yards and his lone touchdown.

But that wasn't against the Valley starters.

``They had a good defensive plan,'' Frost said, ``and it didn't quite go our way.''

Valley (3-1, 2-0) kept its title and bowl hopes alive by switching defensive sets and bumping Bumping can refer to:

Valley took advantage of Glendale mistakes in the first half. Tommy Gales recovered a fumble on Glendale's first drive, and Holtfreter hooked up with Julian Battles Julian Battle (born July 11, 1981 in Royal Palm Beach, Florida) is an American football player who currently plays defensive back for the CFL franchise Calgary Stampeders. He formerly played cornerback for the NFL franchise Washington Redskins.  for a 22-yard score and a 7-0 lead about two minutes into the game.

Then Ian Baldie intercepted Frost on the second play of the next drive, and the Monarchs List of monarchs may refer to:

  • List of deposed monarchs
 got a 34-yard field goal by Ed Cicoria for a 10-0 lead with 10:21 to play in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Glendale got on the board with Jamel Applewhite's 1-yard run to make it a 10-7 game. Valley answered with two rushing touchdowns, one of 5 yards by Walker and one of 1 yard by Morgan for a 24-7 halftime lead.

Holtfreter completed 5 of 11 passes for 140 yards in the first half. Frost, who had just 18 passing yards in the first quarter, finished the half 9 of 17 for 101 yards.

Glendale ran for 12 yards in the first half. Valley had 114 yards in the first half.
