LANCASTER -- Business consultant James Canton, who heads a think tank on global futures, will talk about the Antelope Valley's future in technology, business and economy at the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. Also scheduled to speak at the Business Outlook Conference on Feb. 23 are John Alston, author of business motivational books, and Christopher Thornberg, former senior economist for the Anderson Forecast at the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising. .

The trade board's 35th annual conference will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Poppy Pavilion at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  in Lancaster.

Canton's talk will be titled ``The Extreme Future: Top Trends That Will Reshape Business and Society.'' He is the chairman and chief executive of the Institute for Global Futures, a San Francisco-based think tank he founded in 1990.

``He's going to be a tremendous presenter,'' trade board President John Currado said. ``He's an internationally known speaker, and we have him right here in our own backyard.''

Currado said Canton advises Fortune 500 companies, the National Science Foundation and the White House Office of Science and Technology.

Alston's motivational books include ``Life is a Gift -- Don't Trash It,'' ``Goodness Must Be Taught'' and ``Stuff Happens When You Fix It.''
