VALLEY FAIR ORGANIZERS HONORED FOR LONGTIME EFFORTS.

Civic leaders Jane Boeckmann and Bert Potter have been honored by the Western Fairs Association for their long service to the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Assemblyman Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, presented Boeckmann and Potter with Western Fairs Association pins commemorating the 15 years each has contributed to the San Fernando Valley Fair.

Boeckmann, board president for the 51st District Agricultural Association, is also the president of World of Communications Inc. and founder, publisher and editor in chief of Valley Magazine.

Potter, second vice president of the 51st DAA DAA - Distributed Application Architecture: under design by Hewlett-Packard and Sun. A distributed object management environment that will allow applications to be developed independent of operating system, network or windowing system.  board of directors, is the owner and manager of Potter Bail Bonds and co-owner of Potter Realty in Van Nuys. He has served on the agricultural association board for 15 years.

The 51st DAA produces the annual Valley Fair, which celebrates the diversity and cultural heritage of the San Fernando Valley. The Valley Fair will be held June 4-7 at Los Angeles Equestrian Center, 480 Riverside Drive, Burbank.

Cri-Help, Inc., one of the San Fernando Valley's leading residential drug treatment centers, will hold its 27th anniversary fund-raiser at Pierce College on May 31.

The North Hollywood-based facility has helped thousands of chemically dependent people break their addictions.

Founded as a grass-roots organization, Cri-Help has emerged as an operation that has helped 10,000 people.

The fund-raiser will feature an auction, a barbecued steak dinner and a live rock concert.

Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for kids ages 6-12, and includes the steak dinner, games, music and auction.

The San Fernando Valley Opportunity Through Education Scholarship Fund has awarded $44,000 to 26 students from the Valley.

Students who will attend four-year colleges in the fall each received $2,000 while those going on to two-year colleges or trade schools each received $1,000.

Patricia Franco, president and founder of OTE, helped create the fund with other community members in 1995 and began with a total of $500 in seed money to start the scholarship program.

Recipients and their respective schools are Sandra Beltran, Elizabeth Serrano and Erica Lindsey Ortiz of the San Fernando Math and Science Tech Magnet High School; Eduardo Rivera, Isaac Cetto and Alma Martinez of Mission College; Elena Arvizu, Christina Kegeyan and Sandra Ayala of Francis Polytechnical High School; Marco Rubio, Eva Chavez and Shawna Kleemeyer of the West Valley Occupational Center; Tommy Noh of John F.
