The author of a number of bills aimed at strengthening the Motion Picture Association of America's hand in combating piracy and copyright theft, Berman is expected to be a strong advocate for the entertainment industry in the new position. Cathy Sloan, spokeswoman for the Computer and Communications Industry Association, which often is at odds with the entertainment industry over intellectual property issues, offered praise for Berman. ``He certainly is going to be most supportive of the content industry because that's who he represents in Congress, but we know that we can work with him on any issue,'' she said.
