``Because of my experience and what I can do for a company, I'm going to want a higher salary,'' Ozols said. ``I think a lot of employers are penny-wise, pound-foolish. They see a salary as an expense, rather than an investment.''

But Ozols has landed several promising interviews with help from Experience Unlimited, a free ``job club'' sponsored by the state Employment Development Department at the Canoga Park WorkSource Center.

By enabling the customer's application to talk directly to the network, it allows the end user to have greater access to network information as well  the writing, editing and people skills she learned at her former job with a fitness magazine into a full-time position.

``I've only had two magazine editor interviews in my life -- and they were 25 years apart,'' she said, adding that Experience Unlimited helped her broaden her job search by showing her that her accomplishments and skills could be valuable in several fields.

Experience Unlimited members also attend networking events and can browse online job listings and use computers, printers, copiers, phones and fax machines for free. And during the search process, they offer support to other members.

Employers can post jobs with the agency for free, and pay no fees for recruiting, screening or referral.
