VALLEY'S LINK WITH N.Y. JETBLUE'S FIRST NONSTOP FLIGHT TO BIG APPLE DEPARTS FROM BOB HOPE AIRPORT RUNWAY.

Byline: Gregory J. Wilcox Staff Writer

BURBANK - At 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, Capt. Bill Stilwell and First Officer Alexander Smith landed their Airbus A320 at Bob Hope Airport Bob Hope Airport (IATA: BUR, ICAO: KBUR, FAA LID: BUR) is a regional and national airport located in Burbank, California, United States.

It was formerly known as United Airport (1930-1934); Union Air Terminal (1934-1940);
and three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. The episode was directed by Stephen Williams, and written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It first aired on May 17, 2006 on ABC.  later, under an archway of water, pulled up to their new JetBlue gate.

``This is a very special day for JetBlue,'' said Dave Barger, the airline's president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Barger noted that the flight back to New York New York, state, United States

was fully booked and already 80 percent of the airline's seats out of Burbank are booked through the summer.

JetBlue's biggest planes have 156 leather seats, which offer ample leg room, as well as DirecTV for each passenger. XM satellite radio will soon be offered as well.

``This is a nice way to cross the country. This is the way customers want to travel,'' Barger said.

That's why musician Kenyon Nelson and his wife Aubrey, who live 10 minutes from the airport, booked seats on the first flight out of Bob Hope as soon as possible after service was announced. Aubrey is going to have a baby boy in September and she's going back to New York to meet Kenyon's family for the first time.

``We love to fly out of Burbank,'' said Kenyon. ``And I have DirecTV at home, and anybody who has DirecTV is good with me.''

JetBlue will have three daily nonstop flights between Bob Hope and John F. Kennedy International Airport

Charles Lombardo, president of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, noted that the airline arrived the week of the facility's 75th anniversary.

``There couldn't be any better frosting frosting

on the cake than nonstop service to New York. JetBlue has all the right stuff for Bob Hope Airport,'' he said, referring to the company's fleet of quiet jets.

The company also rolled out a new marketing tool, Blue Betty, a converted 36-foot Airstream recreational vehicle that has in-flight entertainment features, airline seats and a small ticket counter.

It will travel from Burbank to New York this summer.

``Heads turn everywhere we go,'' said driver Kevin Wall.

JetBlue's arrival in Burbank should get the attention of American Airlines and United Airlines and possibly set off a scramble for entertainment industry business, said Jack Kyser, chief economist at the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.

On Tuesday, JetBlue bought the cover of one of the industry trades to display its advertising slogan. American Airlines took an inside position in the other trade.

JetBlue is now in a position to take business from those two legacy carriers because Bob Hope is so close the the Valley's major studios.

``This is the brass ring,'' he said of the carrier's arrival. ``It's an obvious advantage to the Valley business community because you don't have to trek over the hill. And if you are trying to attract business to the San Fernando Valley, this becomes a major advantage.''
