VALENCIA - A Valencia printing company that manufactured 2 million ballots for the upcoming general election boasted a record month in September.

Delta Printing Solutions printed and shipped more than 9 million books last month - excluding the ballots, which were completed earlier - and broke its previous record of 8.3 million, Bill Stelzer, vice president of marketing, said Tuesday.

The company specializes in instructional manuals included in cellular telephone packages and other electronics and also manufactures booklets for religious organizations, Stelzer said.

September production marked a 6.7 percent gain over the same month a year ago. In all, Delta consumed 4 million pounds of paper and filled 92 trucks of its products for shipping.

``Delta had an outstanding September, both operationally and financially,'' company President Ann Gayou said. ``We grew volumes from our high-quality asset positions and controlled our costs, thereby reaping the benefits of the strong production month.''

Meanwhile, Delta has completed or is nearing completion on several projects that will spur further growth, she said.

``During 2005 we expect to reach the upper end of our target of achieving 3 percent to 8 percent average annual production growth,'' Gayou said. ``Our objectives for 2005 include a continued focus on profitability, while turning our attention to longer-term growth initiatives for 2006 and the years beyond.''

Delta, established in 1954 in Van Nuys, relocated to Valencia 15 years ago. It has sales offices across the country.

The company prints more than 60 million books a year for customers in industries including health care, entertainment and gaming, education, publishing, travel and technology.
