``I didn't know much of anything,'' Loy said of the recruiting process. ``I didn't even think about playing college golf until probably my junior year.''

Then, her play started to show the value of her devotion to practice, and by the end of last summer Loy had played in the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur and U.S. Women's Amateur championships, attracting the interest of Columbia, Georgetown and UC Riverside.

Michelle Mannix of Valencia and Ali Erdman of Quartz Hill, who both have accepted scholarship offers from UC Riverside, also will participate. Loy's father Steven and Carlos De Leon - father of 2003 Daily News girls golfer of the year Melanie De Leon of Saugus - are others involved in the workshop, which will run from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Valencia multi-purpose room.

``We'll talk about a lot of things,'' Stevy Loy said, ``like contacting coaches, playing in the right tournaments and getting yourself out there. Maybe we can cut down some of the learning time. What I learned is there are definitely many different ways to get where you want to go.''
