The deal gives The King's College, founded 10 years ago and fully accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

``For our uses, it was perfect. This is a win for everyone and will be a beautiful university,'' he said.

Valley Presbyterian spent $1.5 million to buy the Sherman Way site's equipment.

``I think it's a great use for the existing facility,'' Selleck said. ``Valley Presbyterian has been able to accommodate a lot of the patients, so the closure has been absorbed fairly seamlessly. That was definitely something everyone was concerned about.''

The King's College plans to use the tower's basement for its library, the bottom floors for classrooms and former hospital rooms to house students.

College President Gregor Campbell said the added space will allow it to expand from its current offerings of bachelor's degrees in theology, master's programs in divinity and doctorates in ministry to include added religious studies and liberal arts.

In addition, Jack Hayford, pastor of the church and chancellor of the university, will expand his minister-education program.

``We got a great deal on a great property,'' Campbell said. ``We've never had a residential capability, so by default, we've been a commuter school. Now, we'll be able to have more of a sense of community.''
