VAPHS, part of the VA Stars & Stripes Healthcare Network, will use the Virtual DB(R) Information Portal Reporting System (VIPRS) to provide live access to VISTA (Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture), a M (MUMPS) based hospital information system. It will also enable the organization to generate over 200 in-depth clinical and administrative reports created from new and legacy systems. All reports are integrated into single, easy-to-read views.

VAPHS plans to utilize Virtual DB(R) to further strengthen its access to patient information. Virtual DB(R) will enable VAPHS to create a reconciliation system that matches VAMC claims against Veterans' Integrated Service Network (VISN) reimbursements. In addition, it will allow the organization to integrate disparate data from clinical departments and external care facilities into VAPHS's reporting capabilities, as well as provide controlled access to outside users.
