V-ONE To Secure Connection of Emergency Responder, Anti-Terrorism Networks.GERMANTOWN, Md. -- V-ONE Corporation (OTCPK:VNEC), which recently signed a Letter of Intent to be acquired by SteelCloud (Nasdaq:SCLD SCLD - South Central Long Distance), today announced it has been selected to secure the connection of the Operation Respond Emergency Information System (OREIS(TM)) to the RISS RISS - Real-Time IR/EO Scene Simulator RISS - Reference Information Storage System (HP) RISS - Regional Information Sharing System (Regional Information Sharing System) Anti-Terrorism Information Exchange (ATIX ATIX - Antiterrorism Information Exchange (DoJ and FBI)). The connection of OREIS and ATIX will, for the first time, allow secured HAZMAT (hazardous materials) information to be instantaneously shared via RISSNET RISSNET - Regional Information Sharing System Network with homeland defense, law enforcement officials and the estimated 500,000 OREIS emergency responders in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This connection will be secured though the use of V-ONE's SmartGuard(TM) VPN appliances. V-ONE's security technology, as implemented in the RISS/LEO backbone network, has been recommended by the National Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan. V-ONE technology will be deployed across the entire length of the OREIS and ATIX networks, ensuring end-to-end security for authorized users nationwide. OREIS provides on-scene fire, police and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) responders with vital information on rescue, response and counter-terrorism operations on or around railroads and highways, including those involving hazardous materials. ATIX carries secure data to federal, state and local public safety organizations responsible for protection against terrorist threats and natural disasters via the RISSNET network, a secure, web-based nation-wide law enforcement information-sharing network funded by the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance. V-ONE president and CEO, Margaret E. Grayson, said, "V-ONE technology will enable OREIS and ATIX to connect their networks in the most efficient manner possible, allowing first responders secure access to information critical to protecting the security of our nation." ATIX program coordinator, Glenn A. Usher added, "The secure connection of RISS ATIX with OREIS using V-ONE technology signals an important step in the growth of our program. We will be able to instantly and securely provide first responders with the information they need to protect their citizens and communities." Dan Collins, president of Operation Respond, noted, "This important information can now reach to the small towns across America with first responder communities that are a foundation of our homeland defense. By sharing the user authentication and access control security mechanisms of the RISS ATIX system, we are able to safely, quickly and cost-effectively provide information access to thousands of first responders." The connection of the OREIS and RISS ATIX networks is now underway and is expected to be fully operational in the coming months.
