By enrolling in the PowerYourWay program, residents of New York City and Westchester County can choose from a variety of deals offered by more than 40 different energy supply companies (ESCOs) while Con Edison still delivers their energy. Some ESCOs offer a choice between variable and fixed-rate prices, and others offer Green Power solutions.

While all of the ESCOs offer savings--customers who switch don't have to pay NY state sales tax sales tax, levy on the sale of goods or services, generally calculated as a percentage of the selling price, and sometimes called a purchase tax. According to Charles Reed, Manager of PowerYourWay and ESCO Ombudsman, "It's important to shop around and identify what suits your best needs. Talk to the ESCOs; see what they offer and choose the best one for you and your business."

Customers looking to find out which ESCO might work best for them can log on to www.poweryourway.com and enter their account information to receive customized plans from ESCOs.

Con Edison's PowerYOURWay was established in 1998 following the 1995 decision by the New York Public Service Commission to have investor-owned utilities restructure their retail and wholesale plans. Con Edison's PowerYOURWay program has more than 50 Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) taking part in its deregulation Deregulation
