Urgent: the coming marriage amendment.Ottawa -- The movement within the U.S. Catholic Church on defending marriage (see above, under U.S.) is more than can be said about Canada. Here a pall of silence has descended on the national and regional Conferences of Catholic Bishops since the enactment of Bill C-38 as law in July 2005. A look at the Canadian bishops' website (CCCB CCCB - Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops CCCB - Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) CCCB - Central Christian College of the Bible (Missouri) CCCB - Child Care Choices of Boston CCCB - Chocolate Covered Coffee Bean CCCB - Clinton County Conservation Board (Iowa) CCCB - Component Change Control Board CCCB - Component Configuration Control Board (US Army) CCCB - Configuration Control Coordination Board) indicates that no public statements have been made by the bishops for over a year. It is as if the subject has disappeared from their radar. This is despite the fact that a free vote on the marriage issue is scheduled to take place in the House of Commons House of Commons: see Parliament. some time in the coming fall or winter, as promised by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Comment: It is imperative that Canadian bishops urge all Canadian Catholics, to prepare for the coming free vote on marriage in the House of Commons. The family unit, and Canada as a whole, can ill afford to squander what may be the last opportunity to overturn the same-sex "marriage" travesty foisted on this nation by the former Liberal government and its accomplices in the homosexual and left-liberal communities. Readers are invited to sign the online petition at www.restoremarriage.ca. Please write your bishop asking for a new pastoral letter with specific reference to the Church's teaching about same-sex "marriage" and the role of Catholic Members of Parliament. |
