Urban IOUs. (Wall Street West).


Investors, nervous about Wall Street, are taking a fresh look at municipal bonds, which historically have very low default rates.

Kutak Rock verifies that the bond issuer meets all the criteria needed to be considered tax exempt, or in the case of bonds issued within the state of California, double tax-exempt.

This means bond holders don't pay state or federal income taxes on the bond yields, as the issuer is a state or local government, or a qualifying non-profit.
