Upland Sports Group Selected to Offer Somec Frames in U.S.; The Ideal Road Bike for the Serious Triathlete.

Sports Editors/Cycling Writers

OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2003

Upland Sports Group has been selected as the U.S. distributor for Somec frames. With several different frames, materials, and options available, Somec frames are ideal for the serious triathlete.

Somec offers both standard and custom road and Time Trial frames using only Columbus and Dedacciai carbon, aluminum, and steel. The standard offering includes (2) carbon, (19) aluminum, and (4) steel frames. The Somec custom frame offers cyclists more flexibility for specific geometry requirements, additional frame options, and chosen color schemes. All custom orders require 90-day lead times. Each frame is built by hand in Lugo, Italy.

"More and more triathletes are choosing to train and race on road bikes," said Upland President Gary Vasconi. "Somec is a superior product, offering the serious triathlete the comfort, versatility, and efficiency they need to be a better cyclist."

Upland Sports Group, which officially launched its U.S. headquarters in Oakland, Calif. in March of 2002, is aiming to be a leader in the distribution of high-quality cycling products to the U.S. marketplace. Upland Sports Group is owned and operated by two principles, Robert Carbone and Gary Vasconi. More information about Upland Sports can be found on the Web at www.uplandsg.com.
