Sterling Material Processing, div. of Sterlco Inc., Milwaukee, has introduced the Sterlco SCC SCC - strongly connected component  series controllers for central materials-conveying systems. The series includes local controls in 1/4, 2/18, and 4/38 configurations, referring to the maximum number of pumps and stations, respectively. Distributed versions of the controller can be configured with up to seven pumps and 50 stations.

The SCC4/8 distributed control system A distributed control system (DCS) refers to a control system usually of a manufacturing system, process or any kind of dynamic system, in which the controller elements are not central in location (like the brain) but are distributed throughout the system with each component  features a 10-in. color touchscreen and has built-in diagnostic capability. The systems use Allen-Bradley DeviceNet technology, which allows hot swapping (hardware) hot swapping - The connection and disconnection of peripherals or other components without interrupting system operation.
