Upgrade for GPS sims. (Digest).
Interstate Electronics has upgraded its model 2400 Global
Positioning System (GPS) Satellite Constellation Simulator to the
performance and accuracy standards of the company's newer
generation SCS 2450, thereby providing a 300 per cent increase from the
2400 system's initial processing capability. The low-cost hardware
upgrade translates to a more reliable operation and additional capacity,
providing support for future upgrades, such as Selective Availability
Anti-Spoofing Module (Saasm) testing. The upgrade also provides for
vehicle motion update rates to increase by 500 percent, while the
maximum inertial measurement unit data output rate is increased by a 250
per cent margin, allowing users to develop higher resolution and more
accurate simulations. The new processor, ripe with a new memory
capacity, dynamically allocates its 208 MB of Ram between motion data
storage and data logging, which is a major improvement over the 32 MB
originally provided in model 2400.
