Update on Coptic Christians.Editor: In our May issue, Catholic Insight asked readers to write to local MPs, the Minister of Public Safety, and the Immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important. Minister requesting assurance that refugee status be granted to Coptic Christians in Canada. We have since learned from the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration that the proper authority to contact is the Immigration and Refugee Board, which, it is claimed, "takes all available measures to ensure claimants are assessed fairly, effectively and in a consistent manner."
