TAPPI PAPERMAKERS AND COATING CONFERENCES TO BE HELD TOGETHER

Division Chairman John Roper announced that the Coating and Papermakers Conferences will be held concurrently April 24-27, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Marriott Marquis.

The Coating Conference was previously scheduled for New Orleans and Papermakers was to be in Chattanooga, TN. As it was necessary to move the Coating Conference out of New Orleans due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, the chairmen concluded that co-locating both conferences in Atlanta would provide many benefits and opportunities for attendees.

Each division will sponsor its own technical programming, but participants will be able to attend sessions of either program. And, the Trade Fair will be open to all conference attendees. Both divisions will hold their committee meetings Monday, April 24, and technical sessions will begin on Tuesday.

Authors interested in presenting a paper on these or related topics should submit a draft manuscript to [e-mail] by December 31, 2005. Please note that submission of a full manuscript (not simply an abstract) is requested.

STUDENT SUMMIT PLANS ANNOUNCED

Planning for the 2006 TAPPI-PIMA Student Summit is underway. The event will be held January 14-16, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Select Downtown, Memphis, Tennessee. The Student Summit provides direct interaction with pulp, paper, and converting industry leaders and offers an opportunity to learn about the transition from student to employee. TAPPI and PIMA Student Chapter officers and members are encouraged to attend this exciting event. FBA / TAPPI PRODUCTIVITY AND WASTE SURVEY
