Upcoming Ejipt Release Highlights Scalability and Resource Management.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1999--

Valto Systems announced today that Ejipt(tm) 1.2 has been tuned for scalability and efficient management of server resources. Ejipt 1.2, to be introduced at JavaOne(tm) on June 15th, is capable of maintaining hundreds of thousands of Enterprise JavaBeans(tm) (EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans) A software component in Sun's J2EE platform, which provides a pure Java environment for developing and running distributed applications. EJBs are written as software modules that contain the business logic of the application. ) objects while serving tens of thousands of concurrent clients.

Ejipt, a second-generation all Java(tm) EJB application server, leverages the Java 2 platform Java 2 Platform - Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition  in implementing advanced resource management capabilities not found in classic CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) A software-based interface from the Object Management Group (OMG) that allows software modules (objects) to communicate with each other no matter where they are located on a private network or the global  or JDK (Java Development Kit) A Java software development environment from Sun. It includes the JVM, compiler, debugger and other tools for developing Java applets and applications. Each new version of the JDK adds features and enhancements to the language.  1.1 based implementations. "With Ejipt, the usage of entity beans is no more expensive than that of sessions beans, thus eliminating the need for cumbersome and error-prone wrapping of entity beans with session beans," said Imre Kifor, Founder and CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey.  of Valto Systems. "This is a significant advantage Ejipt has over other EJB implementations."

Ejipt's distributed 2-phase commit transaction management allows for robust solutions to complex business demands. Ejipt is based on standard APIs from Sun, including EJB, RMI (Remote Method Invocation) A standard from Sun for distributed objects written in Java. RMI is a remote procedure call (RPC), which allows Java objects (software components) stored in the network to be run remotely. , JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface) A programming interface (API) from Sun for connecting Java programs to naming and directory services such as DNS, LDAP and NDS. , JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity) A programming interface that lets Java applications access a database via the SQL language. Since Java interpreters (Java Virtual Machines) are available for all major client platforms, this allows a platform-independent database , JTA and security. With its compliance to these standards, Ejipt significantly reduces the risk in deploying distributed component-based applications and protects application developers from costly proprietary implementations.

Ejipt, with its installed footprint of less than 300Kb, can easily be deployed on a laptop while at the same time provides massive scalability in multi-processor server environments. Ejipt's standards-based architecture and small footprint make it an ideal choice for embedding in specialized application servers and/or distributed software products.

Ejipt is available for purchase directly from Valto's web site at www.valto.com. Pricing for Ejipt Developer is $495.00. Ejipt Server, a fully configured app server with unlimited clients, is $2495.00. Custom configurations with significant pricing incentives are available to ISVs. The Ejipt Evaluation Program, good for a free 30-day trial period, is also available from the web site.
