That guy - Hugh Cornwell - will be at the WOW Hall on Thursday doing his singer-songwriter thing. Actually, he's been nursing a solo career since before he stopped singing for the Stranglers in 1990. Hit singles from the Stranglers include "Peaches," "No More Heroes," and "Duchess," to name a few. Cornwell left the band to enjoy more musical freedom, a news release says. "He felt it was a bit like having a noose around his creative neck and that it was time to do something different.' Cornwell has released six solo studio albums, two while still fronting the Stranglers. The latest is "Beyond Elysian Fields," from 2004, the same year he put out an autobiography: "A Multitude of Sins." This tour is promoting "Dirty Dozen," a 12-track CD containing selections from the 45-track live album, "People Places Pieces." The CD comes out two days before Cornwall's Eugene show.
