California has become the first state to declare secondhand smoke secĀ·ondĀ·hand smoke
n.
Cigarette, cigar, or pipe smoke that is inhaled unintentionally by nonsmokers and may be injurious to their health if inhaled regularly over a long period. Also called passive smoke.
 a toxic air pollutant. The decision by the California Air Resources board California Air Resources Board (CARB) is the "clean air agency" of the state of California in the United States. The scientists found a sharply increased risk of breast cancer in young women exposed to secondhand smoke. It also links smoke to premature births, asthma, heart disease, other cancers and numerous health problems in children.
