A STRA 2C--a satellite built by Boeing (language) BOEING - An early system on the IBM 1130.

[Listed in CACM 2(5):16, May 1959].
 Satellite Systems Inc., of Los Angeles--was launched successfully in mid-June from the Baikonur space flight center, in Kazakhstan.

 2C, a high-powered version of the Boeing 601 satellite, is owned by the Luxembourg-based Societe Europeenne des Satellites (SES), which operates a global communications satellite communications satellite  artificial satellite that functions as part of a global radio-communications network. Echo 1, the first communications satellite, launched in 1960, was an instrumented inflatable sphere that passively reflected radio signals back to  network.

The ASTRA 2C will provide pan-European coverage. The payload (1) Refers to the "actual data" in a packet or file minus all headers attached for transport and minus all descriptive meta-data. In a network packet, headers are appended to the payload for transport and then discarded at their destination.  design makes it possible to select 32 frequency channels out of a total possible of 56 at any time.
