Unwise strategy.

I think that you are unwittingly playing into the hands of the neo-conservatives who are trying to convince the American public that unconstitutional unconstitutional adj. referring to a statute, governmental conduct, court decision or private contract (such as a covenant which purports to limit transfer of real property only to Caucasians) which violate one or more provisions of the U. S. Constitution.  abuses of power are actually good. Please let me explain. In the article "Anti-war Stance Is Right, Not Left" (February 6 issue), you say: "Unlike the left, we do not believe any one man should ever be entrusted with the awesome power of deciding when to go to war. It makes no difference if the president is a Republican or a Democrat, a conservative or a liberal. The Constitution assigns Individuals to whom property is, will, or may be transferred by conveyance, will, Descent and Distribution, or statute; assignees.

The term assigns is often found in deeds; for example, "heirs, administrators, and assigns to denote the assignable nature of
to Congress, not the president, the power 'to declare war.' If America needs to go to war, Congress should declare it."

Now I am a leftist left·ism also Left·ism

, although certainly not a Democrat, and I oppose any war by any president without a declaration by Congress. That was true in my youth when I opposed the Vietnam War Vietnam War, conflict in Southeast Asia, primarily fought in South Vietnam between government forces aided by the United States and guerrilla forces aided by North Vietnam. , Kennedy's and Johnson's war, and now Iraq, Bush's war. In truth, these wars have all been bipartisan affairs--Nixon carrying on Johnson's war and Hillary and Kerry backing Bush's war.

Here in Boston we have pulled together a group of Libertarians, Greens, and Independents (and I hope some non-neo-conservative Republicans soon) to oppose the war. We are continually plagued by those who wish to separate us into different camps. That divide-and-conquer strategy is just what the neocons need. So I must say that what you write is not helpful--and I have said the same thing to my Democratic friends who come at the divisiveness from the other side.
