Untidy view from bus; Your say.I RECENTLY travelled into Stockton Stockton, city (1990 pop. 210,943), seat of San Joaquin co., central Calif., on the San Joaquin River; inc. 1850. One of the fastest-growing U.S. cities during the late 20th cent., Stockton is an inland seaport located at the head of the San Joaquin delta. via Norton Road, on the bus.Between the Buffs The name Buffs can mean:
There is one shop, one bookmaker's and one public house open. All the rest have either shutters down or metal sheets on windows and doors. Any newcomers to the town passing this area must think, what have we come to? I suggest, if money was available to erect e·rect adj. 1. Being in or having a vertical, upright position. 2. Being in or having a stiff, rigid physiological condition. a wooden screen, made out of recycled wood, the full length of this section of Norton Road and paint it, with trees, bushes etc, to make the area a lot better to look at. I hope I am wrong, but I can see this type of empty shop etc, not only in Stockton, but other towns also, being with us for years to come. If nothing is done, it will look a lot worse as time goes on. RAY BUXTON, Norton |
