The nascent Titan Arum bloom at UW-Madison is the first in Wisconsin and may be only the twelfth recorded bloom in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . As of June 8, the plant had reached 8 feet, 5 inches tall, tying the record for the tallest Titan Arum ever grown in cultivation. After opening on Thursday and going through its female stage, the flower closed back up overnight. It is currently in a resting period as the male flowers develop. The spathe should open up again today or into tomorrow as the plant goes through its male stage.
