Dr. President Stephen B. Sample renamed the school the USC Gayle Roski School of Fine Arts in honor of the $23 million pledge made by Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. art patrons Gayle and Edward P. Roski Edward P. Roski, Jr. (born in 1938) is a millionaire in Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of Loyola High School, the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and a Vietnam veteran as a member of the Marines. Jr., a donation that is considered to be the largest single donation to a visual arts school in the United States. Roski is an accomplished painter and alumna of the USC School of Fine Arts as well as one of Los Angeles' most ardent and active cultural ambassadors. The gift will be used to expand the school's tenure-track faculty with the appointment of world-class instructors, and a significant increase in student fellowships for the school's two graduate programs. The money will also be used to enhance technological support for innovative undergraduate teaching. |
