Universal testing system.

The Micro EP palm-sized universal testing machines are said to be ideal for determining the mechanical properties of miniature specimens in tension, compression or flexure. Each stage can be used as a standalone tester or can be installed in an optical or atomic microscope to compare the macroscopic stress-strain states with the microscopic changes in the material. The testers exert forces as small as a few grams or as much as 5 kN on specimens that are generally tens of millimeters in size. Micro EP test stages are available in 450 N and 5 kN capacities and are equipped with load and displacement transducers for generating stress-strain curves. Equipped with the company's MTESTWindows materials testing system, it can be programmed to conduct simple force or displacement tests to failure, or long term ramp and hold or cyclic control profiles. Optional configurations include smaller capacity load cells, longer crosshead strokes and faster testing speeds, as well as thermoelectric heaters and coolers.
