Describing the technology being used to develop the unmanned Anthrax 'Smoke' Detector as "automated" and "devoid of false positive results," Dr. Ponce highlighted the need for rapid detection following the anthrax attacks of 2001. "The detection method combines an aerosol capture technique with bacterial spore bacterial spore,

About The Army Force Health Protection Conference

The Army Force Health Protection Conference meets once a year to explore new advances in technology and information related to a "Fit and Ready Force," better sustain the soldier in garrison or during deployments, including those that involve Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Explosives, or Weapons of Mass Destruction Weapons that are capable of a high order of destruction and/or of being used in such a manner as to destroy large numbers of people. Weapons of mass destruction can be high explosives or nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological weapons, but exclude the means of transporting or , provide the skills needed to monitor the health of the soldier from accession to deployments and beyond, and to provide information of benefit to first responders. The conference was attended by some of the nations leading military and civilian experts. Military, Veterans Administration professionals, and Department of Defense civilian professionals working in the areas of occupational and preventive medicine, health promotion and wellness, population health, and behavioral health were also present.
