Unity Media operates the largest interconnected cable network in Europe with more than 5.1 million households. CableEdge is an intelligent network management and planning software that collects and analyzes network traffic and performance data from cable modems, cable modem termination systems, and other DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) A cable modem standard from the CableLabs research consortium (www.cablelabs.com), which provides equipment certification for interoperability. [R]-compliant devices (such as HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates  and set-top boxes) to derive benchmarks for network service quality and provide expert recommendations to improve service levels. With CableEdge, operators proactively address network issues before they impact the customer. The net effects are to reduce trouble calls and truck rolls and to optimize the use of internal operational resources. The information can also be used to add network capacity and plan for new service roll-outs. Today, more than 5,000 cable operator employees rely on C-COR's CableEdge to leverage data from approximately 10 million DOCSIS devices throughout 12 countries.

Karl-Heinz Konne, Manager OSS/Network Documentation, Unity Media, stated, "What really impresses us about CableEdge is the platform monitoring technology that provides in-depth information on the customer experience. From a business and marketing point of view, the ability to collect data that directly correlates with customer satisfaction to such a granular degree is simply invaluable - especially in what is an increasingly competitive marketplace for us."

"European cable operators, such as Unity Media, continue to look to C-COR for success-based spending that optimizes existing network capacity, improves customer service, and supports rapid service launches," stated Rod Peery, VP of Sales/EMEA, C-COR. "With the CableEdge platform, operators finally have a comprehensive view of faults, congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load.
