Several of NASLIE's approximately 240 members were already members or leaders of ALFA, but the entire membership officially became part of ALFA on July 1. The announcement was made to NASLIE members at their annual spring expo in mid June. The two associations had talked informally about the prospect for about two years, but began serious discussions at ALFA's spring show in Dallas. "NASLIE has been around a long time and they bring some fresh ideas and approaches," says Wayne. For instance, she hopes to implement a problem-solving approach used by NASLIE whereby small groups of members tackle specific issues in roundtable discussions and half-day work sessions.
