United States : RIM publicizes Widget SDK for BlackBerry Platform.

Developers can now create web-based applications for BlackBerry smartphones, the latest BlackBerry Widget Pronounced "wih-jit," for decades, the term has been a popular word for a generic "thing" when there is no real name for it. It is often used to describe examples of made-up products along with other fictitious names; for example, "10 widgets, 5 frabbits and 2 dingits.  Software Development Kit by RIM has now made it possible. Third party application developers can now develop rich, integrated applications for BlackBerry smartphones using common web technologies.

BlackBerry Widget employs the BlackBerry Browser engine to render an application s user interface using HTML HTML

BlackBerry Widgets can be easily distributed via BlackBerry App World or by means of BlackBerry Enterprise Server BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) is the name of the middleware software package that is part of the BlackBerry wireless platform from Research In Motion.

BES connects to messaging and collaboration software (Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, Novell GroupWise) on enterprise
