While Compuware has focused on software applications used on enterprise servers, Gomez products are designed to handle cross-browser testing; Web load and performance testing Performance Testing covers a broad range of engineering or functional evaluations where a material, product, or system is not specified by detailed material or component specifications: Rather, emphasis is on the final measurable performance characteristics. ; Web performance management; and business analytics related to Web performance.

Lexington, Mass.-based Gomez has been in an IPO holding pattern since filing papers for a public stock offering last May. Financial reports filed since then indicate the company reached profitability for the first time in the first half of 2009.

In the first half of 2009, Gomez generated $26.6 million in revenue an increase of 25.6 percent over the same period in 2008. The company booked net income of $1.9 million for the first six months of 2009. Gomez lost $868,000 in the same time period in 2008.
