United States : CAC launches construction secures major boon.

While launching the construction on its much-anticipated Center for Advanced Care (CAC See Consumer Advisory Council. ) recently, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center has announced a key $1 million donation for the project.

The Masonic Family Health Foundation made the donation, which comes as a major boon for the new outpatient care center.

The launch, which had the participation of State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz Sara Feigenholtz is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 12th District since 1995. Feigenholtz lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. , Ald. Tom Tunney, donors, administrators, physicians and hospital staff, was held on the construction site.

The CAC will be home to the medical center's Creticos Cancer Center, the Digestive Health Center and an enlarged Ambulatory Surgery Center ambulatory surgery center A free-standing center that performs various types of surgery , all services which have been considered as most required by Chicago's North Side community.

The project to build the 156,000-square-foot building is sited on Wilton Avenue, between Barry Ave. and Nelson St., behind the existing main hospital entrance. The medical center has joined hands with architect SmithGroupJJR and Turner Construction Turner Construction Company is one of the largest construction management companies in the United States with a construction volume of $8.5 billion in 2006. Addressing the gathered crowd of over 250 attendees, Susan Nordstrom Lopez, Advocate Illinois Masonic president, said : 'Much time and lots of very hard work by many people led up to this day. As construction occurs, you ll see the results of thoughtful input from patients, doctors, associates, families, community groups, architects and engineers. Through the devotion and support of Advocate and all of our generous friends, we start building it today.'
