This contract action initiates the procurement of MK 698 GMTS, that will be used to support production, testing and interim level maintenance work for the Evolved SEASPARROW missile sonsortium consisting of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Turkey, and United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . The United States and Turkey will fund the effort under this contract. Work will be performed in Tucson, Ariz., (79 percent); Charleston S.C., (13 percent); Irvine, Calif., (8 percent), and is expected to be completed by March 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Sea Systems Command The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is the largest of the U.S. Navy's five "systems commands," or materiel organizations. NAVSEA consists of four shipyards, eight "warfare centers" (two undersea and six surface), four major shipbuilding locations and the NAVSEA headquarters, , Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-07-C-5431).
