United States: Metcalf Bank agrees to buy Bank of Belton.

Metcalf Bank has agreed to buy the Bank of Belton, continuing a string of acquisitions under its Jefferson City-based parent company. Owners of the Bank of Belton, with $50 million in assets, approved the deal, which still needs regulatory approval. The companies did not disclose terms of the sale.

Home prices in the U.S. fell 3.6 percent in August from a year earlier as record foreclosures added to supply and rising unemployment depressed demand. The decline was led by a 7.9 percent drop in the region that includes Nevada and Arizona, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said Thursday.
