: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a five-year contract to support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs The Bureau of Consular Affairs is a bureau of the United States Department of State within that department's management office. The mission of the Bureau is to administer laws, formulate regulations and implement policies relating to the broad range of consular services and  in delivering critical services to U.S. citizens domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitors travelling to the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . This five-year contract, a base year plus four one-year options, is valued at $196.5 million and will extend through 2013.

Under the contract, Harris will support the Department of State's Information Technology (IT) by providing installation, training, help desk and information technology services in support of 270 domestic and international consular operations. In addition, this contract includes work from Harris Corporation's Department of State, Consular System Support - Bureau of Consular Affairs agreement as well as work from other contracts including Department of State Passport Support. Consular operations include embassies and consulates plus passport agencies that provide support to American citizens, immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa applications.

Harris will provide a range of activities from assisting with newly-emerging mission critical requirements to supporting routine administrative needs. Support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  include shipping and installing equipment and applications; training; on-site system administration, configuration management and repair; technology upgrades; as well as help desk support and related services. The Harris team has been providing support to the Department of State for more than 10 years.
