United States: Fujitsu Unveils Six Mobile PCs Based On Centrino 2.

The LifeBook models include tablet PCs (1) A tablet computer environment from Microsoft that is based on an enhanced version of Windows XP. Designed to function more like a portable writing tablet than previous tablet-based computers, it includes handwriting recognition as well as the ability to retain handwritten words , notebook PCs, and what Fujitsu calls an "ultra-mobile" PC, which weighs four pounds and has a 14.1-inch widescreen display.

Fujitsu on Tuesday introduced six LifeBook mobile PCs powered by Intel's new Centrino 2 platform. Among the new products was Fujitsu's first low-priced tablet PC for mainstream consumers, schools, and small businesses.

The T1010 tablet offers the same performance and many of the same features as Fujitsu's new flagship tablet the T5010, which is the successor to the T4220. The T1010, however, lacks the high-end security features of the more expensive model.

 The Data Warehouse With Column-Store Databases And Appliances Both tablets sport 13.3-inch displays and weigh 4.35 pounds, which the company claims make them the "lightest convertibles with the largest displays on the market." Convertible PCs are machines that can be used as notebooks, but also have a rotating screen that can fold down on top of the keyboard to provide a flat writing surface.

The latest tablets include integrated Wi-Fi 802.11n support. Next quarter, the machines will be available with integrated support for wireless carriers' high-speed data networks. Both computers also have spill-resistant keyboards.

Security features exclusive to the T5010 include a biometric fingerprint sensor, two-level BIOS and hard disk drive password protection, and support for Absolute Software's Computrace service for tracking and recovering lost or stolen PCs. The T5010 will also be available with Intel's vPro client management and security technology.

The T5010 starts at $1,769. The T10101 starts at $1,299 with a $50 mail-in rebate. Both machines can be ordered now. The T5010 with vPro will be available in 30 days.

Among the other new notebooks is the A6210, which has a 15.4-inch screen and Fujitsu's new touchpad A stationary pointing device that provides a small, flat surface that you slide your finger over using the same movements as you would a mouse. You can tap on the pad's surface as an alternate to pressing one of the touchpad keys. Fujitsu also launched what it calls the "ultra-mobile" S6520, which weighs four pounds and has a 14.1-inch widescreen display. The company is also offering the S7220 with the same size display.

Finally, as a desktop replacement, Fujitsu launched the E8420, which has Fujitsu's full line of security features and supports Intel's vPro technology, which will be available with the new machine in 30 days. All of Fujitsu's latest PCs ship with Windows Vista The current version of Windows for the desktop. It was released in late 2006 for businesses and early 2007 for consumers.

Vista adds numerous features, including improved security and advanced multimedia capabilities.
