United Nations and abortion.

Gro Bruntland, former Prime Minister of Norway, has been appointed to head WHO, the United Nation's World Health Organization. At the 1965 U.N.'s Women's Conference in Beijing, China, Mrs. Bruntland, a medical doctor, made a sustained attack on the Vatican delegation for their opposition to abortion as woman's universal right.

The U.N.'s Human Rights Commission is now headed by pro-abortion Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland. The UN's Children Education Fund (UNICEF) is chaired by outspoken American proabortion feminist Carol Bellamy, appointed in 1995. (Her second-in-command is Stephen Lewis, former leader of the NDP in Ontario and the first Canadian politician to call for legal abortions, in 1965. Lewis' wife, Michelle Landsberg, a columnist for the Toronto Star, is one of the most pro-abortion feminists in Canada).

Under their feminist heads, these three branches of the U.N. - WHO, the Human Rights Commission and UNICEF - will be able to intensify their promotion of the contraceptive mentality and the depopulation of third world countries.

An example of how it is done came on February 4, when Nafis Sadik, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and a fourth proabortion feminist, said that women's health, including sexual and reproductive health (i.e., abortion), was finally acknowledged to be a human right. Sadik made her comments a week earlier, to a meeting of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women.

"The international community's recognition of that right and the growing understanding of all it implied were among the most notable achievements in human rights since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights," she said. COMMENT

What Sadik, who was a Planned Parenthood advocate in her native India, is doing, is to claim that this is the official interpretation, when it is not. The same is true of her "claim" that the U.N. must now enforce this right. By this means, she and other feminists hope to introduce this "right" through the back door. Once they succeed in making everyone forget that in Beijing and at other conferences, the Vatican, Islamic countries and some Latin American and third world countries blocked this interpretation of so-called reproductive rights, they can begin to impose it upon all countries.
