United Messaging, the leading enterprise messaging service provider, announced today the release of Message Control(TM) Version 1.2. Message Control is a patent-pending e-mail firewall service that helps organizations enforce e-mail security and appropriate use policies, as well as manage their Internet mail traffic.

In addition to virus protection, Message Control clients are able to reduce electronic junk mail, block inappropriate messages and set message size limits.

Version 1.2 of Message Control(TM) offers a number of new features including:

-- "White-Listing" Hosts - This allows the definition of host-names or IP
addresses that are not subject to MAPS, reverse DNS, or Reject Host acceptance
controls.

-- "Reject-To" Acceptance Control - This allows definition of address patterns
that are automatically rejected before entering the messaging environment.

-- LDAP-based Address Translation - This makes it possible to perform address
translation based on data retrieved from an LDAP server.

-- DNS-based Routing for Delivery - This allows "surrogate" DNS domain
information to be used for more flexible routing.

-- Client Filtering Improvements - This employs X-headers to indicate MAPS
status or lack of reverse DNS to facilitate client-based filtering.

Benefits of these new features include reducing unwanted e-mail traffic and enhancing corporate co-existence, enabling organizations to manage multiple messaging systems during and after migration efforts.
