Unisys wins major contract for UK'S HOLMES 2 Police Information Solution.BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1997-- New crime investigation system will help police forces solve major crimes more effectively Unisys Corp. Monday announced that it has won the contract for HOLMES 2, a significant application in the United Kingdom police's National Strategy for Police Information Systems (NSPIS NSPIS National Strategy for Police Information Systems (UK) ). HOLMES 2 will be the major crime investigation tool used by UK police forces well into the next century. HOLMES 2 will replace the current HOLMES crime investigation systems used by police forces in all major cases including murder, multi-million pound fraud and major disasters. The new system will be much easier to use and will enable police forces to link together information from different sources on similar crimes. This will help identify crucial facts that will solve more crimes, dramatically improve productivity and enable police forces to make much better use of their resources. Unisys will develop and deliver the solution and provide on-going support for a minimum of five years. HOLMES 2 will include specialist software to suggest new lines of inquiry to complement the traditional investigation processes. It will also link with other police information systems, such as the Police National Computer, to integrate all the information needed to solve a major crime.
